Therapeutic ultrasound is a type of deep-heating modality that uses high-frequency sound waves to penetrate tissues beneath the skin. These sound waves cause microscopic vibrations in the tissue, which can produce either thermal (heat-based) or non-thermal effects, depending on the settings and your treatment goals.

It is completely painless and performed using a handheld device that glides over a gel-applied area of your skin for a few minutes at a time.
